IMPORT & EXPORT ENQUIRIES
Sea freight. Start with the whole journey.
For an import or export sea freight enquiry, bring the ports, cargo and schedule into one conversation. Discuss your shipment requirements and any onward road movement directly with operations.
Sea freight requirements
Begin with the cargo and ports
Provide the origin and destination, preferred ports where known, total volume, weight and a clear description of the goods. Explain whether the freight is palletised, packaged or already containerised. Container type, consolidation and handling requirements must be discussed for the individual enquiry.
Consider the movement beyond the port
A sea movement does not necessarily end at the terminal. Explain the collection point and final delivery address, along with unloading facilities and access restrictions. Midnight’s established road-freight options provide a useful starting point for discussing onward UK, Irish or European road requirements.
Prepare the import and export information
International freight needs accurate cargo and commercial information. Share the proposed shipping dates, commercial invoice details and any relevant customs requirements early. Sailing schedules, container arrangements and availability must be confirmed; the proposed arrangements are discussed for the individual shipment.
